i don’t think the second quote/response is illogical. obama is saying that pro-choice doesn’t mean democrats enjoy killing as many babies as possible. he doesn’t want unwanted pregnancies to happen, which lead to abortions, but if a young girl does make a mistake and gets pregnant, he doesn’t want her future to be completely set in stone by the government. of course, he would wish that the pregnancy never happened, so that the abortion wouldn’t have happened either.

As far as I can tell, that quote was made in the context of a discussion of contraception education, not abortion. (Though the phrase, I will admit, is startling nonetheless.)

I don’t think that comparing McCain’s long-term, systematic accumulation of wealth to an improvised comment that Obama made at a town hall meeting is a fair comparison.
