    The view from here

Since moving to Southern California nearly eight years ago, I have been on the quest to find the “perfect” coffee shop. After many google searches (which netted me this site) and lots of driving/exploring, I think I have found one that meets my “three tests” (in no particular order) for the perfect cafe.

    1. It has to serve decent coffee.
    2. It has to offer a view of the Pacific Ocean.
    3. It has to have an inviting ambiance.

Unfortunately, this cafe is not near me (which means I cannot frequent it too often). I found this cafe (a Starbucks) while on a personal retreat in Orange County.  From my comfortable seat, I hear Jazz music in the background while having an unobstructed view of the ocean. And as a little bonus, even parking was free.

Your perfect coffee house… is a Starbucks.

Not that I’m hating — I personally think that Starbucks serves up one of the most consistently good cups of coffee I can find. Not that I think 80% of their baristas even know it, but it’s quality-controlled… and it’s great.

Glad you are surveying the entire Southern California coffee world for us! Keep letting us know what else you find.

We all know the perfect coffee house is on the corner of Santa Monica and the 405 – they’ll serve you up a hot cup-o-Peet’s and a low interest rate mortgage.
