    I came across this quote today in one of my readings:

    Though some fundamentalists are involved in politics, their involvement rarely touches on theological issues or vlaues that were prominent in Scripture or the early church. (The prohibition of abortion in the early church was part of a nurturing environment for children that would probably be regarded as socialist by modern fundamentalists. Values of the extended family and the community have been replaced by those of the nuclear family.)
