    Day 6: Develop Goals

    Comments (none)

(This devotional series is inspired by seven quotes attributed to Henrietta Mears. Her life inspired a generation of men and women to let Scripture speak directly to their hearts for the sake of seeing the world transformed.)

You must decide what you want to build and then proceed with the plans.

Implication: To build my ministry, I need to have vision for what I want to build and then plan the steps toward that vision. Vision will not just happen because it is a good vision. It happens because I have put in the work to make it happen.

Reflection: My personality and giftedness set makes this principle easy to grasp. I must pay attention to the vision that God has set and develop as much clarity in articulating that vision. Often my vision is not very well articulated—not even to me. I can conceptualize something in my mind, but I don’t really have much clarity on what that means and how to get there. I need to articulate my vision well so that it’s easier to proceed with the plans.

Second, I need to develop not just a plan but goals so as to evaluate whether we are on track to build that toward that vision.

Application: Work hard in the spring to articulate a vision and develop action steps/plan to work toward that vision.
